Samuel Weldler is Global Head of Tax at Hilco Global. He leads all aspects of Hilco Global’s overall tax function, including compliance, transaction structuring, cross-border activities and managing a team of internal and external tax professionals. Sam partners closely with the distinct finance teams within each of Hilco Global’s more than 20 operating companies, managing tax planning strategies and optimizing tax reporting.
Sam is a highly seasoned tax professional with over 25 years of public accounting experience. Prior to joining Hilco Global, Sam most recently served as a Managing Director at Ernst & Young since 2005, where he focused on taxation of real estate. Sam structured numerous real estate transactions related to partnerships and REITs, advised on 1031 exchanges, and managed complex compliance engagements. Prior to Ernst and Young, he also spent time as a Manager at both Deloitte and Arthur Andersen.
Sam has served an Adjunct Professor in the Masters-of-Taxation Program at DePaul University and received recognized for excellence in instruction at Ernst and Young. He is Certified Public Accountant and holds his Master of Science in Taxation from DePaul University and his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Touro College.
