Meridian Restaurants Unlimited, L.C.

In October 2023, Meridian Restaurants Unlimited, L.C. (“Meridian”), a Utah-based franchisee company, sold 73 Burger King restaurants across the Midwest and Western United States. Hilco Corporate Finance served as the exclusive investment banker to Meridian for its section 363 sale in bankruptcy.

Founded in 2002, Meridian operated 118 Burger King restaurants and one Black Bear Diner spread across 10 states. It was one of the largest Burger King franchisees in the United States. In March 2023, Meridian filed for Chapter 11 protection in the Bankruptcy Court for the District of Utah and subsequently closed 45 Burger King restaurants.

The locations were sold to multiple buyers, including Burger King Company, the franchisor, and five other existing franchisees and experienced franchisee operators.
