Chris Briggs

Chris Briggs is VP of Engineering at Hilco IP Merchant Banking. Mr. Briggs joined Hilco IP Merchant Banking from Marquis Technologies where he was VP of Engineering and led the engineering investigation and many portfolio analyses and valuation efforts. Before starting up Marquis, Mr. Briggs was the Senior Program Manager at Rockstar, where he developed and operated models for patent portfolio mining, value assessment, ranking, enforcement strategies, and royalty base estimation. An expert on service provider business, wireless and wired network architectures, devices and services, Mr. Briggs worked broadly across the technical and business aspects of intellectual property monetization. He planned and performed reverse engineering, presented technical infringement evidence to licensees, addressed inter partes reviews and defined claims for patent continuations.

Prior to working in IP focused roles Mr. Briggs was with GENBAND after defining and protecting the Intellectual Property acquired with Nortel’s Carrier VoIP and Application Solutions business line. There he defined product and market strategy in the CTO and in Product Line Management. At Nortel, he served as Director of Product Line Management for all Gateways and Session Border Controllers, driving over $2B in global sales to wireless and telephony carriers and other roles in development and management areas. Mr. Briggs began his working career as an aerospace engineering officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force in helicopter reliability engineering and data analytics.
