Chris George is Global Head of Healthcare in the Professional Services division at Hilco Global. Chris advises healthcare organizations and investors on financial and operational performance improvement, enterprise transformation, and value creation. With more than 30 years of healthcare industry experience, Mr. George has worked across health systems, academic medical centers, physician enterprises, and private equity-backed healthcare companies, bringing a combination of healthcare operating experience, consulting leadership, and deep expertise in translating strategy into measurable financial results.
Mr. George has extensive experience helping health systems address margin pressure and complex performance challenges. His work has included enterprise-wide margin improvement, revenue cycle transformation, clinical and administrative operations redesign, supply chain strategy, workforce optimization, digital transformation, and organizational and governance redesign. Throughout his career, he has partnered closely with health system executives, boards, clinical leaders, and administrative teams to identify opportunities, establish performance improvement strategies, and lead implementation. His engagements have generated significant financial impact, including more than $200 million in operational savings for health systems and academic medical centers.
A significant focus of Mr. George’s career has been the physician enterprise. He has advised and operated within academic faculty practices, employed physician groups, and large multispecialty organizations, with experience spanning physician productivity, practice economics, revenue cycle, workforce and organizational design, patient access, performance management, technology, and governance. Earlier in his career, he served in executive leadership roles within major academic physician organizations, including as Vice President and Chief Information Officer for the Medical University of South Carolina’s 600-plus physician faculty practice, giving him firsthand experience managing the operational, financial, clinical, and technology challenges facing complex provider enterprises.
Mr. George also works with private equity sponsors and PE-backed healthcare portfolio companies to develop and execute value creation strategies. His experience includes performance improvement, growth strategy, operating model optimization, revenue and cost transformation, post-transaction integration, and building the infrastructure required to scale healthcare businesses. He has supported private equity firms and their portfolio companies across the investment lifecycle, bringing an operator’s perspective to identifying performance opportunities and converting them into actionable initiatives designed to improve EBITDA and create sustainable enterprise value.
Prior to joining Hilco, Mr. George served as Managing Director and Health Systems Practice Leader at Alvarez & Marsal, where he was responsible for repositioning and growing the practice while expanding its capabilities across health system and physician enterprise transformation. Previously, he spent more than 11 years at FTI Consulting as a Senior Managing Director, leading major healthcare performance improvement engagements and holding P&L and business development responsibilities. Earlier, he founded and served as CEO of Think First, a healthcare consulting firm specializing in enterprise transformation, revenue cycle optimization, operational redesign, and analytics-driven performance improvement. He grew the firm into a nationally recognized healthcare advisory business before its successful acquisition by FTI Consulting.
Mr. George’s perspective is shaped by having served on multiple sides of the healthcare industry—as a health system and physician enterprise executive, entrepreneur, advisor, practice leader, and board member. This breadth of experience enables him to understand both the strategic priorities of healthcare executives and investors and the operational realities of implementing meaningful change. At Hilco, he brings this healthcare-focused perspective to helping clients improve performance, navigate periods of transformation and financial pressure, accelerate growth, and create lasting enterprise value.
