John Kim is a Managing Director in Hilco’s Dispute Advisory practice, bringing nearly 30 years of experience in advising executive leaders, corporate boards, and audit committees on technical accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, auditing, and compliance matters.
John has led numerous highly sensitive investigations and complex disputes involving the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Auditing Standards, corporate governance, anti-bribery and corruption, employee misconduct, misappropriation of funds, and kickbacks. In addition, he advises clients in developing and enhancing anti-fraud programs and controls.
Prior to joining Hilco, John was a Senior Managing Director at J.S. Held and held Managing Director positions at Huron Consulting and Alvarez & Marsal. He began his career at Deloitte as an auditor, where he was responsible for issuing audit opinions and reporting significant audit matters to audit committees and management.
John earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from New York University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in New York and New Jersey, a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
