Anki

Hilco Streambank marketed for sale the assets of Anki on behalf of DSI Assignments, LLC, in its capacity as assignee for the benefit of creditors.  Anki was the leading AI-enabled, cloud connected home robotics and entertainment developer.

Its technology supported three commercialized products – Overdrive, Cozmo and Vector.  Overdrive was an intelligent battle racing system, in which a unique combination of hardware and software worked together to create a distinctive gaming experience.  Cozmo, the #1 best-selling toy on Amazon (U.S.) in 2016 and 2017, was an AI-powered robot that gets smarter and evolves with the user.  Vector, geared toward techies and gadget-lovers, was a home robot that could read the room, express the weather, recognize people and objects while detecting and avoiding obstacles, take a picture and more.

The assets available for sale included a patent portfolio, trademarks for Anki and each of the product lines and the anki.com domain name.  The patent portfolio covered broad claims related to autonomously controlled devices incorporating artificial intelligence and adaptive data analytics.

A sale to Digital Dream Labs, an edtech startup, closed in December, 2019.  Deal terms were not disclosed.
