For almost 60 years, the Dressbarn has been the go-to specialty store destination for women seeking fashionable clothing options suitable for work and social occasions. The Dressbarn is known for providing an authentic and inclusive shopping experience for women in sizes 2-24. The ecommerce channel, at Dressbarn.com, grew significantly in recent years, most recently representing 13% of the brand’s $950M+ fiscal year revenue.
The company retained Hilco Streambank to conduct a sale process for its intellectual property assets, including its trademarks, robust customer database, domain names including Dressbarn.com, and social media profiles.
The process coincided with Dressbarn’s announcement that it would close its retail stores by the end of 2019 through an out-of-court structured winddown process. The sale of the intellectual property assets closed immediately prior to the commencement of store closing sales at the vast majority of Dressbarn’s retail stores.
The Dressbarn assets generated a great deal of interest and resulted in a transaction with a subsidiary of Retail Ecommerce Ventures LLC. The new Dressbarn.com relaunched in January, 2020. Deal terms were not disclosed.
