Earth Fare, a natural and organic grocery store, retained Hilco Streambank to sell its intellectual property assets during its chapter 11 case. These assets included the Earth Fare trademarks, domains, copyrights, recipes, customer data and social media assets.
Beginning as a humble natural food store in 1975, Earth Fare became well known for its natural and organic offerings. Earth Fare led the way in honest labeling and the elimination of artificial additives in food products.
Over a truncated 6-week period, Hilco Streambank ran a marketing campaign for the brand’s intellectual property assets, a process which ran alongside the company’s efforts to market and sell its leases. Working with the company and its lease disposition advisor, Hilco Streambank closed a deal with DJ3 Delaware, LLC, an entity affiliated with Earth Fare’s founder. The bid, valued at $1.9 million, encompassed Earth Fare’s trademarks, domains and copyrights, as well as the assumption of 5 leases.
