MADE-BY

Background

MADE-BY was an award-winning global not-for-profit organisation acting to improve environmental and social conditions within the fashion industry. Formed in response to rising consumer concern over sustainability issues in the fashion world, MADE-BY had been at the forefront of driving sustainability transformation for over a decade. Prior to commencing insolvency processes in October 2018, MADE-BY had operations in the UK, Holland, Italy and Germany, and supported leading fashion brands including Ted Baker, Primark, ASOS and G-Star to implement good environmental and social standards that could be maintained within a commercial environment. Its proprietary benchmark tools included sustainability progress analysis tool MODE Tracker™ and Environmental Benchmark for Fibres.

Engagement/Marketing

Hilco Streambank was appointed by Brian Baker of Kingston Smith & Partners LLP as Liquidator of MADE-BY Label UK Limited (in Liquidation) to market the key assets of this European sustainable apparel advisor. Hilco identified and highlighted value in the key assets, including the MADE-BY brand, trademarks, website content, domain names, social media assets, analytical tools and benchmarks including the MODE Tracker. With Group entities and assets being located across Europe, we navigated complexities and worked with both Dutch and UK liquidators to structure a deal in the best interests of all stakeholders. Hilco conducted an extensive sales and marketing process, building a bespoke database of potentially interested parties in the sector. This resulted in a significant level of interest and numerous offers being submitted.

Outcome

Following a competitive process, we closed a deal with Anthesis Group, a party introduced by Hilco. Anthesis Group are a global sustainability services and solutions consultancy focusing on the belief that commercial success and sustainability go hand in hand. Key members of the MADE-BY team have subsequently joined Anthesis Group.
