Matilda Jane

Founded in 2005, Matilda Jane Clothing^® recognized and celebrated the beautiful courage of girlhood and brought whimsical, free-spirited creativity forward in playful patterns and styles for girls and women. Through colorful palettes and detail, the Matilda Jane^® brand helped girls figure out their own style in fun and creative ways, and most importantly, provided a tangible link between mothers and daughters to grow closer together through shared experiences. At its peak, annual sales exceeded $76 million.

After experiencing COVID-induced volatility in its multi-level marketing business structure and an unsuccessful prior sale process, Matilda Jane faced an inflection point necessitating a swift winddown and out-of-court sale. The Hilco Global platform provided an expedient resolution over the course of 5 weeks, with Hilco Merchant Resources managing inventory sales, Hilco Fixed Assets managing the liquidation of FF&E, and Hilco Streambank identifying an intangible asset buyer and documenting a transaction in just 3 weeks.

Assets included two clothing brands, Matilda Jane Clothing^® and Good Hart^®, domain names including matildajaneclothing.com, a customer database, social media accounts, and design patents. Hilco Streambank assisted in closing a transaction to a strategic buyer in January of 2023.
