The National Gardening Association, Inc. and Garden.org
National Gardening Association, Inc. retained Hilco Streambank to sell its trademarks, domain names, customer database, established advertising opportunities and content library.
National Gardening Association, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in Vermont in 1973 to sustain and renew the fundamental links between people, plants and the environment. Through gardening, the organization promoted environmental responsibility, advances multidisciplinary learning, scientific literacy, and creates partnerships that restore and enhance communities.
In particular, the Garden.org, website provided information and guidance to gardeners, gardening industry professionals and educators. The Garden.org domain has been a reliable resource for gardeners for 19 years. In addition to serving a valuable gardening resource as a result of its breadth of content, the site generated significant annual advertising revenue.
The domain name complemented an offering of trademarks, customer data including more than 200,000 opt-in subscribers and a content library suitable for licensing.
Following a truncated 6-week marketing process, Hilco Streambank closed a deal for the assets. Deal terms were not disclosed.
