Hyzon Overview

Hyzon Motors develops high-performance hydrogen fuel cell systems that deliver zero-emission power to decarbonize the most demanding industries. Built in the U.S., Hyzon is transforming commercial trucking and helping partners meet sustainability goals with fuel cells that turn hydrogen and oxygen from air into electricity, emitting only water and running quietly.

Hyzon has received zero-emission certification from the California Air Resources Board, formed partnerships including oil field services company Schlumberger Limited and food distributor Performance Food Group, and deployed its first fuel cell electric waste collection truck in North America.

Cutting-Edge Hydrogen-Fueled Technology Driving Clean Energy

Where competitors reach 200kW+ of power by combining multiple fuel cell stacks and/or systems, Hyzon produces an industry-leading high-power 200kW PEM (proton exchange membrane) fuel cell within a single stack form factor. Advanced electrode materials, hydration control, and the dynamic capability to enable load-following hybrid operation ensure durability and performance.

Hyzon achieves a lighter and more powerful fuel cell by engineering advantages throughout the core of the fuel cell system:

  • Membrane Electrode Assembly — Where hydrogen and air meet to make power. Engineered to produce more electricity per square inch.
  • Hybrid Bi-Polar Plate — Distributes hydrogen and air and conducts electrical current from one cell to the next. Engineered with both graphite and metallic materials to increase durability and decrease weight.
  • Balance of Plant — The supporting components to make the fuel cell work. A single balance of plant components set saves space, weight, cost, and complexity.

**Jointly-owned by Hyzon and one or more Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies PTE Ltd. (Hyzon’s former controlling shareholder) entities and/or three unrelated parties. An interested party can acquire Hyzon’s ownership and/or license rights to the jointly-owned patents. More information about Hyzon’s joint ownership of intellectual property is available for parties under NDA.

Key Technology Investment Highlights

An acquirer of Hyzon’s intellectual property rights can take advantage of over $100M invested in R&D activities by Hyzon since 2020, and more invested by Horizon since its founding in 2003. Hyzon’s fuel cell system can enable tomorrow’s power generation, energy storage, mining, construction, rail, marine, and airport ecosystems. In this regard, the technology is complementary to existing product portfolios and may be a valuable jumpstart for ventures into large volume applications as the push toward lowering carbon emissions continues to heighten. Hyzon’s technology offers smaller but higher-power fuel cells that can be manufactured at a lower cost, benefiting suppliers and their customers.

Machinery & Equipment Assets

A buyer of the IP can also take advantage of machinery & equipment available for sale. Over 1500 lots, located in Bolingbrook, IL and Troy, MI, are available for acquisition, including specific quality, late-model machinery, equipment, and inventory related to the proprietary operations of Hyzon such as:

Primary Production M&E

  • Cell production lines
  • 5- & 7-layer web converting lines
  • Coated lamination line
  • Slitters
  • Membrane electrode assembly
  • Battery & fuel cell test equipment
  • Lab equipment for pouch cell production

Inventory

  • Parts and components for production of hydrogen fuel cell systems & truck power conversion kits
  • Finished and in process fuel cells

An online auction for the M&E is taking place from April 15 – 17, 2025. Certain M&E assets may be reserved for an interested party who submits an indication of interest for both IP and M&E.
