Mark Podgainy

Mark D. Podgainy, Managing Director at Getzler Henrich & Associates, has 25 years of experience in operational roles and turnaround consulting, and leads the Real Estate & Hospitality and Education practices. His expertise includes operations restructuring, business plan analysis, performance improvement, cash and vendor management, workouts, bankruptcy consulting, and interim management engagements. Mark also works with law firms on forensic and litigation support assignments in bankruptcy cases. His key clients are in the real estate and hospitality, education, food and beverage, manufacturing, apparel, and retail sectors.

Mark provides expert guidance to middle market organizations through workout and restructuring processes, both in and out of court throughout the country. Key outcomes include successful turnarounds and reorganizations; enterprise and asset sales; and wind-downs and liquidations. In each situation, he has addressed challenging operational, financial, legal, organizational, and governance issues to maximize value for all key stakeholders.

Mark has an MBA from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. He is currently a board member of the NYC chapter of the Turnaround Management Association; of Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City, Inc., a non-profit revitalizing underserved neighborhoods through the creation of sustainable, affordable housing, and of the 520 West 19^th Street Condo Association. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Cornell Hotel Society. Mark frequently authors articles on topics including distressed mergers and acquisitions, real estate, higher education, and related topics for numerous industry trade publications. He is a Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP).
