Novelis Aluminium Foil
NOVELIS Inc., headquartered in Atlanta GA-USA, is the worlds largest Rolled Aluminum Sheet Producer; Alcan spun off the Rolled Products Division into Novelis in the early 2000’s and Novelis was later acquired by Hindalco, the Aluminum subsidiary of Aditya Birla Group, one of the largest companies in India. In 2019, Novelis announced the closure of their Lüdenscheid Plant in Germany; the Extruded Cables division (a small activity on site) has moved to the plant in Ohle, Germany. The Aluminum Foils Division ceased production at the end of March 2020.

We started our marketing campaign in January 2020. Our aim was to sell the factory complete as one package or in 4 departments with eventually a clean-up auction at the end.
– (4) Achenbach Rolling Mills, Double Winding Machine, (3) Separating Machines
– Heat Treat Dept. with (9) Furnaces; Lacquer-, Laminate and Slitting Lines
– Auxiliary Equipment: Roll Grinders, Maintenance Shops, Overhead Cranes etc.
We managed to sell the equipment in 2 large packages: 1st.Package were the Laminating and Lacquering Department . 2nd Package Rolling Mills + Annealing Department; both packages were sold to large Aluminum Sheet Producers in Turkey. Although travelling was difficult for the clients due to COVID-19 we managed to arrange the sale , dismantling, packing and loading on Truck ( more than 250 trucks loaded) in a very smooth process for all parties involved.
Novelis turned out to be a pleasant partner to work with and we were able to find both buyers for the entire factory even during the Pandemic. The total process from purchase to sale and loading was a very professional process. We worked with serious, professional and honest companies who understand their job. This also makes it possible to return the site to Novelis a few months earlier than planned.
The fact that we worked with the technical Manager of Novelis, convinced the buyers to proceed without be able to visit the factory themselves. A (Drone) Video, showing the plant in operation, was very helpful for the buyers to make their decision. This project was an example of how the process can run smoothly if all parties have the same goal.
