Larry Finger serves as Executive Vice President of Hilco Real Estate, Co-CEO of Hilco Real Estate’s Asset Management division, and Principal Financial Officer of Copper Property CTL Pass Through Trust, the entity formed by the secured lenders in the JCPenney (JCP) reorganization to acquire, manage, and liquidate $2 billion in JCP real estate assets. Larry was a critical team member on the Hilco JCP engagement that advised the secured lenders on property selection, master lease, and deal structuring, He currently leads the Hilco team that is asset managing and liquidating this complex portfolio.
Larry brings over 30 years of experience in all aspects of real estate operations and development in multiple sectors including retail, office, mixed-use, multi-family and medical office. Larry’s experience includes asset management, acquisitions, leasing, operations, and finance in both public and private company environments.
Prior to joining Hilco, Larry served as CFO at Federal Realty Investment Trust (NYSE: FRT) and Washington Real Estate Investment Trust (NYSE: WRE), assuming both CFO and asset management responsibilities. As a REIT CFO, Larry executed nearly $2 billion in public equity and unsecured debt offerings, obtained over $1 billion in unsecured lines of credit, and secured initial ratings for WRE and upgrades from S&P and Moody’s for both WRE and FRT. During Larry’s tenure, FRT and WRE stock multiples rose from middle of the REIT industry to number one and number two, respectively.
Larry also previously headed Strategic Advisory, Inc. where he specialized in improving public REIT valuations and achieved material valuation increases for every client. During this period, he also was a member of the Board of Directors of American Assets Trust (NYSE: AAT) and served on the Compensation Committee and as Chair of the Audit Committee.
Larry began his career with Savage/Fogarty Companies, Inc., a Washington DC based office developer, where he served as COO and Head of Development.
A regular presenter at the SNL REIT School, Larry has served as a member of the NAREIT Best Financial Practices Council and as an expert witness in real estate litigation. He earned a BS in Accountancy from the University of Illinois and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center and was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Maryland and admitted to the District of Columbia Bar.
