Pathmark
Engagement
Hilco Streambank was retained by The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. (the “Company”) to market and sell its intellectual property and related assets, including the Pathmark® store banner.
Brand Background
Pathmark® operated stores in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland. In 2007, Supermarket News ranked Pathmark® No. 31 in its annual “Top 75 North American Food Retailers”. In 2014, Pathmark® was the top grossing supermarket banner in the Company’s portfolio, with $2.25 billion in revenue.
Marketing Process
Hilco Streambank developed a marketing program designed for the sale of the Company’s intellectual property assets, which included the Pathmark® store banner. We identified and reached out to over 250 potential buyers with a teaser detailing the opportunity and populated a virtual data room containing confidential materials regarding the assets available for sale.
Outcome
In December 2016, the Company closed the sale of the Pathmark® store banner to K-50-15 Corp. for $1 million.
