Rob Kuppens

Rob is a talented and well versed financial professional with more than 30 years of experience navigating, managing, and solving complex financial and business issues in a collaborative and inclusive manner. He has been with HDS for almost 10 years and specializes in complex retail and C&I field exams as well as diligence assignments with unusual collateral types or business models. With over 30 years of financial management and diligence experience, he has a successful history of managing companies through operational and financial restructurings and executing transactions in both public and private situations.

Prior to joining Hilco Rob served as CFO at Salus Capital Partners. There he led the growth of the business from startup to supporting a loan portfolio of $1.5 billion. Rob led the capital raise for a $550 million CLO and was responsible for managing finance/accounting, treasury, investor relations, portfolio, HR, and IT. Prior to that, Rob held senior ABL underwriting roles at First Niagara and NewAlliance, northeast Regional ABL lenders.

Rob’s career includes holding CRO/CFO roles at two specialty retailers. He led Lids and Bag ’n Baggage through their respective bankruptcies; restructuring the balance sheet, managing both senior and trade creditors, repositioning the companies, and was involved in managing the 363 sale of Lids and the emergence and return to profitability of Bag’n Baggage.

Rob began his career in the retail industry at Talbots and possesses a BS in Accounting and Finance from Boston College and an MBA in Finance from Bentley University.
